Recently, I was asking my partner insights into the male perspective regarding a character I was working on and the reality was less romantic then I had initially thought.
Not satisfied with the assessment, I started asking more in-depth questions and realized that the more of what I was really looking for, is that true love is loyal. Being an avid reader, I have read a lot of female authors and the way they deliver the male perspective. Strong and mostly silent types, that normal do not reveal their true feelings until the end. I have always enjoyed the feeling that these books had to offer, because they all offered the reader the perspective, that someone values and loves you to the point, that you are their end, full stop. In this day and age, where loyalty is becoming more of a fleeting daydream, I hope to offer in my contemporary romances, this sense of feeling, of love and loyalty, being wanted and valued. I want to encapsulate that feeling you get, when you see our male lead, revealing his true intentions and having only eyes for his love, whoever that may be. Sometimes as a writer, we want to make our characters as real as we can, but also the point of writing is to offer us what we all crave, and to give us all hope, that whatever we long for, does really exist.
