Another year older...
This year I quietly celebrated the day I was born, but unlike previous years, where I felt like it was the start of a new chapter, this year felt like it was more of the start of a countdown. The hour glass has been turned, the sand is now running down... In February, I lost a family member and their passing really reminded me that life is short. What is it that remains once we are gone? Since then I have been so focused on other parts of my life that I haven't had time to really sit back and enjoy what I love - to write. I have lost leads, missed deadlines and fumbled opportunities to progress my career, that I can't help but feel like I'm sitting idle. Unlike the protagonist in my stories, I feel like I am taking the backseat in my own life, instead of leading from the front, being the one in control of my narrative. So much fills our attention, our schedules, our decisions that it really can feel hard to move forward in something we feel is selfish... like our dreams. If nothing else, I want to remind myself this year and especially for my birthday, that this is my life, and I've got to stop living in the backseat and time to take back control of the wheel, otherwise I am going to end up in a destination that I never meant to find myself in. For anyone that has been feeling the same way lately. Time to pull over, take a look at your own map, and figure out where you want to go. Happy Birthday to me and hopefully this time next year, we have gotten our life back on track. Love Aria x
